The University of Richmond received 8,500 applications for 805 slots, a 9 percent increase. Applications are up 6 percent at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., and 3 percent at George Washington University in the District. Applications up! Big surprise? Not really
Well following Chicago’s bombshell (and Brown and Johns Hopkins) some other numbers are coming in:
STANFORD apps are up 5% to about 32,000,
and PRINCETON apps are up 19% to 26,166
Duke University: More than 26,400 high school seniors have submitted applications for admission to Duke University this year, eclipsing last year’s record by 2,500, or 11 percent.

Sad news about enrollment
Firstly sad news from the UK:
Those cutting places include the London School of Economics, Essex and Edinburgh University, while universities freezing numbers include Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, King’s College London, Imperial College London and Warwick.
The biggest cut, however, is at Edinburgh — it is reducing its 2010 intake by 1,300 places, nearly a third of the total….Among [...]
Further numbers
University of Virginia is predicting a modest increase in applications: about 3 percent to 4 percent ahead of last year’s total of 21,831.
University of California is also reporting an increase: The University of California received 7,328 more applicants this year over last, a nearly 6 percent increase–but two thirds of the increase is from transfer students.

Jeffrey Brenzel, admissions dean at Yale, said via e-mail that the video is “a campy musical extravaganza that also manages to convey the real spirit of the students and the place.”

Johns Hopkins–ED up 10% and regular is up 13%
UMBC–up 17%
Loyola–up 30%
This follows on the news that Chicago had a whopping 42% increase after a marketing blitz to bring in more applicants. Harvard is up 5% and Brown 20%
