Over the past few weeks, the followingcolleges have gone SAT optional:
Merrimack College
Goucher
College
Green Mountain College
That brings the list of accredited, bachelor-degree granting
institutions with optional policies for substantial numbers of their
applicants to 742.

First time college students
CNN offers timely advice and lists for Freshmen college students. Some quick suggestions:
Have wash, need quarters. More than a few parents said rolls of quarters
were one way of helping do their children’s wash without physically being there.
* Duct tape. It’s not a joke. Students need it to tape down all those wayward

New online application option
Many of us counselors are big fans of the common app as it stream lines the application process for students. Each year the product gets better and better. Now comes the Universal College application, a competitor of sorts to teh common app. Currently a baker’s dozen have signed up to use this service:
