The International Counselor welcomes The New York Times to the Blogging World of College Admissions:
NEW YORK A new blog dedicated to “demystifying the college admissions process with insights, analysis and expertise” launched today at The New York Times’ Web site.
Jacques Steinberg, a national education reporter for the Times and author of “The Gatekeepers: Inside the Admissions Process of a Premier College” (Viking/Penguin), is overseeing the Web page, labeled “The Choice.”
“For high-school seniors and their families, this promises to be an April unlike any other,” Steinberg writes in his introductory posting. “Many applicants are grappling with being thousands of dollars short in what they hoped to have on hand to pay for their college educations. The choice of which college to attend could well hinge on an applicant’s ability to find additional resources.”
“Through this blog, my New York Times colleagues and I hope to serve as a regular online companion and resource to those of you running this gantlet,’’ he stated.
The Choice “examines all the aspects of getting into college and paying for it, from the application process to the acceptance and waiting list period to financial aid and loan procedures. It is a one-stop destination for students, parents, guidance counselors and admissions officers to access authoritative news and information that they can use when navigating this complicated process,” a release states.
